The CHED Regional Office 10 conducted an Orientation-Workshop on the Application of Special Orders (S.O.s) for graduates of Local Colleges and Universities. This was held on March 22, 2022 at nine (9) o’clock in the morning at the CHED-10 Conference Room, 3rd Floor, HEDC Building, Archbishop Hayes Street, Cagayan de Oro City. It was participated by the school registrars, liaison officers, and staff assigned to process S.O. applications. A follow-up discussion of the issues and concerns raised during the activity was held virtually on May 18, 2002, at nine in the morning (9:00am) via ZOOM Video Conferencing.
The activity was in consonance with the Regional Memorandum Order No. 049 series of 2022 issued by the CHED Regional Office 10 informing Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) that a Special Order (SO) is a requirement for graduation.
That the SO shall be required for graduation of a student from a degree program offered by a Local College is enforced in accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act No. 7722 otherwise known as the “Higher Education Act of 1994”, CHED Memorandum Order No. 40, Series of 2008 also known as the “Manual of Regulations for Private Higher Education of 2008”, and CHED Memorandum Order No. 30, Series of 2009 also known as “Applicability of the Manual of Regulations for Private Higher Education (MORPHE) of 2008 to State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs)”.
There are 11 Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) in Region 10, namely: City College of El Salvador, Community College of Gingoog City, Don Carlos Polytechnic College, Gov. Alfonso D. Tan College, Initao College, Magsaysay College, Opol Community College, Pangantucan Bukidnon Community College, Salay Community College, Tagoloan Community College and Tubod College. Representatives—Registrar, staff, liaison officers, and other key persons–from these LUCs participated in this Orientation-Workshop.
